POSITION OVERVIEW 
A registered behavior technician (RBT), employs applied behavior analysis (ABA) to help our students excel to their greatest potential. The support provided is as varied as our students, and the work involved is critically important to their success. 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
Instruction and Learning 
  • Implements procedures for behavior reduction and skill acquisition procedures for ABA services and supports with fidelity
  • Implements and documents delivery of ABA service minutes in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) 
  • Observes, records, and follows the behavior intervention plan (BIP) in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) 
  • Assists with behavioral assessments including but not limited to preference assessments, individual students' skills assessments, and functional assessments
  • Prepares for, collects, and reports required data and service documentation and assists in graphing data 
  • Becomes familiar with the procedures used by the teacher, the teacher’s schedule of activities, the continuity of academic progression and the materials and equipment available 
  • Works with individual students and sometimes small groups of students when determined appropriate by ABA associate for ABA programming
  • Assists the teacher in strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities 
  • Facilitates independent work set up by teacher and transitions as indicated in the student’s IEP 
  • Provides escort and assistance to students as necessary throughout a variety of school and community settings 
  • Assists with supporting students during large group instructions 
  • Assists teacher in maintaining work and study areas, equipment, materials, and facilities 
  • Operates teaching aides (e.g., smart boards, iPads, computers) 
  • Substitutes for BCBA when needed (must also be actively enrolled in BCBA/BCABA coursework) 
  • Alerts the teacher and BCBA to any problem or special information about an individual student, their programming, or related activities 
  • Assists with the supervision of students during regular play/leisure periods 
  • Participates in orientation, workshops, in-service training, parent conferences when appropriate, IEP conferences, and team meetings 
Education 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Thirty-six hours of college credit required or the ability to obtain substitute certification through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) 
Experience: Experience working with children preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registration 
  • Registered Behavior Technician registration issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board required
  • Substitute Certification or eligible for Substitute Certification through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required

Salary 2023-2024: Range $24.00/hr to $36.00/hr based on experience and education.
